Storytelling has connected us since we were hunter-gatherers sitting around a campfire. This workshop will offer students a basic set of tools to find and tell their own true stories. We all have these stories within us - from embarrassing moments and heartache, to crazy adventures and moments of truth. Students will learn to tap into their own lives to find relatable stories and anecdotes, to shape those stories into compelling narratives, and to find the humor that makes them engaging to an audience. We will focus on powering through our natural fear of judgment to reach a place of confidence in our life experiences. The workshop will concentrate on both prepared storytelling and extemporaneous storytelling.

If you’ve ever felt yourself holding back on stage for fear of revealing too much of your true self, if you’ve ever been interested in using monologues to inspire your improv, or if you’re just a fan of The Moth and want to learn how to tell your own stories, this is the perfect workshop for you.
